Adela Refugia Gonzales Lopez
October 3, 1935 – October 21, 2025
Adela Refugio Gonzales Lopez, affectionately known to her loved ones as “Fefa,” passed away peacefully at her home in Miami, Arizona, at the age of 90.
Adela was born on October 3, 1935, in Globe, Arizona, to Refugio and Trinidad T. Gonzales. The youngest of thirteen children, she grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the hard work that came with being part of a large, close-knit family. As the baby of the family, Adela shared a deep bond with her mother and remained by her side throughout her life. She cared tenderly for her mother and siblings until her mother’s passing—a reflection of her lifelong devotion to family.
A woman of remarkable independence and determination, Adela later moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she began a long career with Motorola. She raised her three children—Valentina, Phillip, and J.J., providing a stable and loving home through her hard work and dedication. After retiring from Motorola, Adela continued to give back to her community as an elementary school teacher’s aide, supporting language learners.
Deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, Adela drew strength and guidance from her beliefs. Her resilience and strong will defined her, and she faced life’s challenges with courage and grace.
Above all, Adela cherished her family. She found joy in the simple, enduring bonds of love, faith, and togetherness. Time spent with her many nieces and nephews, her children, and her grandchildren brought her endless pride and happiness.
Adela was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Refugio "Cuca" (Regalado) Gonzales of Puerto Rico Canyon; brothers, Jose Saenz, Vicente Gonzales; Gilbert "Veto" Gonzales, Raymond "Monchie" Gonzales, Jesus "Chuy" Gonzales, Augustine “Gutie” Gonzales and Manuel "Manny" Gonzales; sisters, Simona Ybarra, Eleanor Ramos, Carmen Macias, Lupe Ortega, and Angela Amado. Granddaughter Lillian Ana Lopez
She is survived by her three children: Valentina, Phillip, and J.J. Lopez; her four grandchildren: Jacob, Sonia, Brandon, and Serenity; and her two great-granddaughters: Esperanza and Mariana—who will carry her legacy of love forward.
Services will be on Friday, November 14, at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 Sullivan Street, Miami, Arizona. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Adela’s life.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her soul rest in eternal peace.
