Andrew Hugh King “Drew”

Born April 6, 1976, passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 50. As a father, Andrew leaves behind three children: Danny Andrew King, Andrew Nicolas King, and James Abraham King, his devoted mother Mary Gibson King Holy, his aunt Berdina King and uncle Paul McIntosh, his biological father Eddie Edwards, and numerous cousins. Along with his sister Dorthea Stanley and brother Jon Kenton. He has proceeded in death by his father, Roland King and his brother Hugh Franklin Kenton Sr., biological mother Myra McIntosh Kenton. Drew, as he like to be called, in his younger years, grew up in San Carlos and attended Rice Elementary. He later attended schools in Oakland, California and Globe. He dropped out in the 11th grade but completed his GED twice before receiving his diploma. While living in Oakland, Andrew attended the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. Barbizon teaches basic, modeling, acting, poise, and confidence. A true, legitimate modeling agency that represents models, finds them paid jobs, and makes money strictly by taking a commission from those jobs.

Some famous actors who got their start or trained at Barbizon Modeling and Acting School include:

Ryan Phillippe: known for Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Shooter.

Carmen Electra: Actress, model, and television personality, famous for Baywatch and Scary Movie.

Moises Arias: Actor best known for playing Rico on Disney’s Hannah Montana.

Logan Browning: Star on Netflix’s Dear White People and VH1’s Hit the Floor.

Lyndsy Fonseca: Known for her roles on How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives, and Nikita.

Sean Farris: Star of Never Bac Down and The Vampire Diaries.

He also took some training in the medical field and worked as EMT, nurses aid, and structural firefighter. Andrew was also self-employed, contracting his services to homeowners and businesses in the Show Low and Pinetop area doing yardwork and small repairs around their properties.

While in San Francisco, Andrew was employed with the San Francisco Public Works as a grounds technician before being promoted to supervisor, but had to leave his job due to his declining health.

Andrew cause a person with diverse set of skills who would tackle various task, rather than specializing deeply in a single field. Highly adaptable, he excelled at synthesizing information across different disciplines, and was great at connecting the dots in complex, everyday scenarios.

He was dependable, humble, with a dry sense of humor, and generous with his time.

Reading was a favorite hobby, but having been singing since childhood, his passion was singing country and western songs. Andrew is remembered as the little toddler who sat in the dirt banging on his toy, drum and singing gospel melodies without a song book. He was the alarm clock to the neighbors. He was immensely excited to perform the Country and Western sets with Aravaipa, a local band that has become increasingly popular throughout Arizona and beyond.

Andrew likes so many singers chasing their dreams and setting their goals to becoming recording artist, with limited budget was only able to complete two songs and left off recording a CD years ago at Moon Valley Media and always desire to complete that CD. He wants made a bold move to visit Nashville, Tennessee and many recording Studios to explore and research the country and western music industry and operational context from within.

One thing is certain; Andrew was not shy and stepping behind the microphone. Since he grew up in the bay area of California, his love for the city set a deep course in his desire to travel often between San Francisco and San Carlos. Having many Asian friends, he learned many of their traditional dishes. Andrew was a master class chef at preparing Asian food. He was a fabulous cook, fixing an excellent meal with the barest of essentials. When you smelled the coffee, you knew he was already up and preparing breakfast.

Being one who actively immerse themselves into local culture, cuisine, and lifestyles rather than just an observer. Andrew, who’s late stepfather, Gayle Holy, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, hitchhike to South Dakota, once as a bonus, he made his way to one of Sturgis’ Annual motorcycle bike rallies and worked for one of the many vendors that set up a shop for the week long event.

Grief, as hard as it is, is also gratitude wearing heavy clothes. Grief is the price we pay for having loved someone extra extraordinary. We are grateful for the 50 years of Drew’s intermittent presence. Grateful that he grew up with that ocean-in-his-lungs energy— part rain, part laughter. We are grateful that as a free roaming spirit, he taught us that the world is not flat, but there is a civilization beyond the borders and many different races outside our comfort zones and fears. He loved the kind of life that starts at sunrise. He was a connector of people— the kind who remembered names, birthdays, and the details you swore you hadn’t told anyone. He pulled people into the circle. He had a greeting that made you feel like a long lost relative. He had magnetic enthusiasm and made everyone the most skeptical along us agree with his influence, truth, or not. Courage and curiosity lived comfortably in him. He asked questions that open doors.

Thank you, Drew, for every sunrise, every laugh, every sunset,, every time you sing. We’ve got it. We will take it from here. We love you. We miss you. The reservation will miss you. The city will miss you. And we will hear you in every bird song of the morning.
