Annie A. Romero passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on April 9, 1941, in Marfa, Texas, where she lived until the second grade. Annie spent most of her life as a proud Vandal and was a graduate of the Class of 1959. She carried that pride with her throughout the years, forming lifelong friendships and memories. Annie had a deep love for sports, whether she was watching games on television or listening on the radio. She was a devoted fan of her favorite teams—the Suns, Diamondbacks, and Cowboys—and she never hesitated to share both her excitement and frustration with those around her. Beyond sports, Annie enjoyed a variety of entertainment, including comedies, musicals, and her favorite television show, *NCIS*. Above all, Annie’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She dedicated herself to creating a loving home and was known for being fierce, loyal, and having a wonderfully wicked sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Daniel R. Romero; her parents, Joaquin O. Alvarez and Lena Alvarez; her brothers, Joaquin “Jack” Alvarez Jr. and Ruben Alvarez; and her sister, Betty Alvarez Vannoy. She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Avalos and Jennifer Romero; her sister, Irene (Benny) Garcia; her grandchildren, Nicole Mostrales, Andrew Avalos, Andrea Avalos, and Gabrielle “Gabby” Chavez; and her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Avalos, Aubriella Macias, Lana’Jae Macias, and Natalie Avalos. A memorial service for Annie will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Pinal Cemetery. Annie will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, humor, and unwavering love for her family.
