Betty Gilbert

Betty was born on August 3, 1946 in San Carlos, Arizona to the late Dorris “Lucy” and Dennison Astor. She was raised in the Tulapi Acre of Gilson Wash. As a younger girl she had attended elementary school in San Carlos, Arizona. Later on she moved to California to finish up her education which was junior high and high school. Later when she became a young adult she joined the Job Corp. program and she was the very first native American to join. She went to Cleveland, Ohio for training. It was highly published on the news when she had departed on the plane. The Governor of Arizona and Grandma Lucy were there.
