Byron Lee "Papa" Porter, a respected diesel mechanic, welding supply expert, and store manager, passed away on May 21, 2026, in Globe, Arizona. Born on April 21, 1959, in Fresno, California, Byron lived a life marked by dedication, skill, and a deep connection to his community.
Byron was widely known for his exceptional career and his involvement in local organizations. He proudly served as the President of the TNBA bowling club (he was the only President of the TNBA) and a member of the Alley Kats, Elk Grove Bowling clubs, and Zodiac Stars bowling clubs and contributing his leadership and passion to the sport he loved deeply. An avid bowler himself, Byron achieved the remarkable milestone of a perfect 300 game, a testament to his dedication and talent. Beyond the lanes, he was a devoted member of the Globe-Miami Gun Club and an enthusiastic motorcycle rider and video game player, embracing varied interests with enthusiasm.
Byron shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Brenda Porter, his son George (Carrie), and his daughter Bethany (Marcus), proud grandfather to four grandsons—Logan, Jackson, Loke, and Benjamin, his brother Bruce (Denise) and sister Lisa (Mike),his brothers-in-law Randy (Linda) and Leo, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Byron is proceded in death by Mother Georgia Porter.
