CAROLYN HARO

July 4, 1967 — July 24, 2025

PHOENIX, ARIZONA

Carolyn Mawson Haro, 58, of Globe, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, after living with cancer. She was born on July 4, 1967, to Dewey and Trini Mawson in Phoenix, Arizona. Fittingly born on Independence Day, Carolyn was known for her spirited personality and was often described as a firecracker.

As a child, Carolyn sometimes had trouble sleeping and would call for her dad to sing to her. His song of choice was “My Little Buckaroo,” and from then on, she became affectionately known as “Little Buckaroo” among her extended family.

Carolyn attended Globe schools and graduated from Globe High School in 1985. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University in 1989. In high school, she was a member of the flag team, the pom squad, and participated in theater productions. She loved her high school years, especially homecoming, and was always a proud Globe Tiger.

Over the years, Carolyn worked in a variety of roles that reflected her dedication to serving others and supporting her community. Her career included positions at First Things First Globe Regional Office, where she served as liaison for the First Things First Gila Regional Council, the Gila County Health Department, Hacienda Healthcare, Arizona Child Protective Services, Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK), and Chicanos Por La Causa. She also worked at the PHX Arena when it was America West Arena and served on the Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Board of Directors for several years.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She will be remembered for her compassion, strength, faith, positivity, and her love for life. She taught her sons to live with joy, to love deeply, to care for others, and to take care of themselves. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cooking, reading, gardening, and crafting, as well as exploring her family history through genealogy.

Her greatest pride and joy were her sons, and her love for them will forever be a part of who they are. Her warmth, laughter, and spirit will live on in the lives she touched.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret Mawson. She is survived by her husband, Greg Haro; her two sons, Matthew Haro and Benjamin Haro; her parents, Dewey and Trini Mawson; her sister, Gina Wiley and her husband Dennis; as well as her in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a separate bank account where all funds acquired will be given to the Cobra Valley Center for the Arts- Children’s Programs in Carolyn’s honor. It seemed fitting to contribute to a cause that became her life’s work, ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of all children in need. Please remit payments by wire transfer or ACH to BMO Bank.
