CLYDE "BUTCH" MELVIN PRIEST III

September 8, 1974 — May 16, 2025

MIAMI, ARIZONA

Clyde (Butch) Priest III

Butch led—putting it mildly—a thunderstorm of a life.

Never one to conform, he spent much of his life apart from most of his family. While we don’t have a clear picture of what his life was like out in the storm, we know he struggled. He fought battles we will never fully understand and sometimes succumbed to his demons in tempest-tossed darkness.

Final judgment for what we do in the storm is not ours to make. We will remember the light.

The time Butch spent with family was the lightning in his—and our—world: all-too-brief flashes of brightness that lit up everything around him. He had a unique energy, a contagious laugh, a knack for pranks, and a deep desire to help the people he cared about.

He loved the outdoors and spontaneous adventures as much as he loved cooking a good meal and enjoying game nights with family and friends.

Butch was a loving brother and uncle, and he will be dearly missed by everyone whose world he lit up.

Butch is preceded in death by his Father Clyde M. Priest Jr and Bonus Mom Sandra Priest also preceded in death by his Mother Kathleen Gard and bonus Dad Michael Gard

Butch is survived by Sisters: Cynthia Cluster (Richard) of Washington state Diane Clark (David) of Tennessee Shayla Davenport (Jake) of Washington state. Brothers: Michael Douglas of Washington state Robert Gard of Idaho. He is also survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews and great nieces and nephews.
