It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Desirae Bernice "Dez" Rambler, a remarkable soul whose radiant spirit and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Born on July 27, 1991, in Safford, Arizona, Dez's journey came to a close on April 26, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, leaving behind a legacy rich with achievement, compassion, and cultural stewardship.
Dez was a luminous figure within the Apache community, cherished not only for her grace and intellect but for her steadfast commitment to the preservation and celebration of her heritage. A proud holder of a Bachelor Association in Native American Studies, she devoted herself to the nurturing of youth, inspiring and encouraging them to pursue higher education with passion and perseverance. Her efforts forged meaningful connections between generations, seamlessly weaving the wisdom of the elders with the vibrant energy of the young to safeguard the traditions and stories of the Apache people.
Her proud accomplishments stand as a testament to her dedication and spirit. Among these were her crowning as former Miss San Carlos Apache and the esteemed role of second attendant Miss Indian Arizona. Within the sphere of leadership and advocacy, Dez held an executive position within UNITY and provided invaluable support as a Youth Program Coordinator for the Office of the Vice Chairman. Through her work with Apache Stronghold and her unwavering advocacy against MMIW, she demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to justice and community empowerment.
Dez’s life was adorned with the love of family and friends, sustaining her and inspiring others. She is survived by her beloved father, Johnny Chee; many devoted brothers and sisters; and a many of nieces and nephews who hold her memory close to their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her mother the late Sandra Rambler, sister Ranayia Kitcheyan, Grandmother Audrey Johnson, and Grandfather Jerry Rambler Jr.
A wake for Desirae will be on Saturday May 5,2026 at 4:00pm at Family's residence in Bylas, Arizona. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday May 3,2026 at 10:00am at the Stanley Hall in Bylas, Arizona and burial to conclude services at Navajo Point in Bylas, Arizona.
