Doris Gilbert, born on October 20, 1953, in San Carlos, Arizona, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Globe, Arizona. 

Doris’s educational journey included attendance at Rice Jr. High for elementary studies, Theodore Roosevelt School in Fort Apache High School, and Provo High School in Utah. She proudly graduated from Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California. Throughout her life, Doris nurtured a passion for beadwork, sewing, and various forms of crafting, showcasing her creativity and skill. She also had a deep love for elephants, an interest that brought her joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley Gilbert Jr., and their four children: daughters Gwendolyn Gilbert (Jason Sr.), April Bonito, and LeAnna Hinton (Paul), as well as son Barbarino Gilbert Sr. Doris’s family circle also includes her three sisters, Lily, Beverly, and Sherry Bendle, her brother Darrell Bendle, and a foster brother who was raised by a young foster mother.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Priscilla and Donald Bendle, as well as three brothers and one sister.

A wake will be held on June 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the family's residence in San Carlos, Arizona. Funeral services will take place on June 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with a service at the San Carlos Miracle Church, located in San Carlos, AZ 85550. Burial will conclude services at Morman Hill Cemetery.
