Edda Carroll Guynes, born on March 21, 1939, in Brownville, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Globe, Arizona. Edda’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to her family, work, and community—a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Edda was a devoted wife of 32 years to the late James Guynes, and a loving mother to her daughters, the late Jami Palmer and the late Kelli Holden, as well as her surviving daughter, Sydni Sertich. She also leaves behind a deeply caring family: her brother K.C. Newnam and his wife Pat, her grandchildren Kati Spottedcrow, Sean Nicholas Cunny, Hannah Holden, and Andrew Holden, and her great-granddaughter, Blake Spotted Crow. Each of them carries forward Edda’s spirit of generosity and love.

A graduate of high school, Edda was a woman of resilience and hard work. She established herself within the Globe community. Edda worked at Betty Flowers and eventually became its proud owner, managing the beloved business for 15 years. In a profound act of devotion, she chose to sell Betty’s Flowers to care for her husband when he became ill—a true testament to her selflessness and priorities. She later continued her diligent work ethic at Walmart, where she worked for 20 years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers.

Edda was more than her career. She was an enthusiast of the arts who loved painting and needlepoint sewing, spending countless hours bringing beauty and creativity into the lives of those around her. Her faith was central to her life; she was a devoted Woman of God who attended the Lutheran Church. Edda’s dedication to service extended into her community through her involvement with the women’s Beta Sigma Phi and Kiwaha organizations. As owner of Betty’s Flowers, she contributed actively to the Globe Chamber of Commerce, fostering lasting connections and a sense of unity in the town she called home.

Edda’s generous spirit, devotion to faith, and commitment to her loved ones and community leave behind a legacy deeply cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. She will be remembered as someone who lived with grace, love, and a tireless dedication to those she held dear. Edda’s life was a beacon of compassion, faith, and joy—a lasting inspiration to her family, friends, and everyone in her community. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
