Elvira “Vera” Macias, 79, ended her beautiful journey peacefully on July 1, 2025. Known for her kind spirit, radiant smile, and loving heart, Vera left behind cherished memories that will live on in those who knew her. Born on July 30, 1945, in Globe, Arizona, to Arthur and Mary Lopez, Vera grew up on Euclid Avenue and remained a proud Globe Tiger. After graduating high school, she studied nursing at St. Mary’s in Tucson. Her determination led her to work at Miami Inspiration Hospital, followed by years of service with Dr. Bejarano and Dr. Garskof. In 1967, Vera married her love and best friend, Richard Macias, and together they raised their children in Six Shooter Canyon. Her journey took her to Tonopah, NV in 1982, where she helped pioneer a home health program, and to Wright, WY in 1985, where she devoted herself to motherhood and later became an ESL teacher. In 2006, Vera and Richard retired to Arizona, enjoying cruises, Mexican food outings, and quality time with loved ones.
Vera is survived by her husband of 57 years Richard, their children Richie (Jenni), Teresa (Josh) and grandson Jacob (Caitlin); her siblings Jessie Garcia (Tucson), Rosa Aguilar (Globe), Cecilia Amador (Mesa), and brother Eddie Lopez (Apache Junction).
