EvaLee M. Black, born Evalyn Magdalena Dunford, passed away January 15, 2026, at Latham House in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born on June 26, 1932, in Austinville, VA to James Edward Dunford Dr. and Alma Josie Davis.
She was preceded in death by brothers Charles Burton Dunford, James Edward Dunford Jr, sister Emily Yavonne Dunford, Beatrice ' Bea' Thompson, first husband Herman Lee Tickle Sr., second husband Noel Wayne Black, son Herman Lee Tickle Jr. II, daughter Rebecca Ellen McBride, grandson Jon Paul Tickle, great-grandson Zachary Devin Tickle.
She is survived by son Joey David Tickle- wife Sheila of Mesa, AZ, Blessed with 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Evalee worked as a Nurse Aid for 57 years. Starting at Welch Hospital. Welch West Virginia, Gila General Hospital Globe, AZ, Mesa South Side Hospital Mesa, Arizona, then Danford Memorial Hospital Texas City, Texas. She achieved several awards as Patient Advocate. She was a believer in the Christian faith; Psalms was her favorite inspiration.
