In Loving Memory of Johnny Pereyda Navarro
May 16, 1940 –February 21, 2026
Johnny Pereyda Navarro, 85, of Globe, Arizona, was called home to the Lord on February 21, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Globe to Guadalupe Navarro and Josie (Josephine) Pereyda Navarro, Johnny lived a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and community.
Johnny was a man of strength — not just in body, but in spirit. He had a strong mindset and incredible willpower. Once he decided to do something, he did it. He faced life with determination, resilience, and quiet confidence. He worked hard, first at APS and later at the Gila County Courthouse, where he retired. He was known for his roofing skills, his steady hands, and his willingness to help anyone who asked — and even those who didn’t.
But more than anything, Johnny will be remembered for his heart.
He was a people person through and through. He loved being out in the world — talking, laughing, telling stories, and making friends wherever he went. If you met Johnny once, you never forgot him. His smile was warm, his humor contagious, and his presence comforting. He enjoyed weekends with family and friends, a cold beer in hand, laughter filling the room. He loved his casino trips to Laughlin, his bingo nights at church, and simple moments that brought joy.
Johnny didn’t carry worry or stress — he carried faith.
His devotion to the Virgen de Guadalupe was unwavering. For more than 20 years, he traveled to Tome Hill in New Mexico every Good Friday, walking up to the three crosses in prayer. It was more than a tradition — it was a testimony of his faith. He made sure his children walked beside him, praying together as a family. He stayed through Easter, cherishing every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren — the true treasures of his life.
He loved being an uncle, never missing a birthday or holiday. He loved fishing. He loved creating. If he saw something he admired, he would study it, recreate it, and add his own special touch — just like he did with life.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Manuel, Nacho, and his twin brother Lupe; and his sisters Carmen and Angie.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children: John A. Navarro, Sr. (Jacqueline), Rudolph W. Navarro, Nancy Alexander, and Sherri M. Navarro; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his brother Joey Navarro; sisters Rosie Valenzuela, Isabel Navarro, Stella Zaragoza, Della Navarro, and Josie Ochoa; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to call him theirs.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing that the man who walked so faithfully up Tome Hill for decades now walks in the presence of the Lord he loved so deeply.
His laughter echoes in our memories.
His strength lives in his family.
His faith lights our way.
Johnny’s love will remain with us — always
