Jonathan “Jonny” Micheal Ortega found the peace he so desperately needed on January 31, 2026. He was born on August 15, 2003, in Mesa, AZ. Jonny came into this world a kind soul with the sweetest personality. He had a huge heart and was incredibly thoughtful of his family and friends. Always thinking of acts of kindness to brighten someone’s day or providing support in a time of need. Jonny grew up in Globe, AZ with his brother and sister Marqus and Morriah. He was the baby for almost 10 years until his sisters Maliah and then Soniah came along. He then became the protective big brother. Jonny and his mother had a special bond. When life became difficult, they faced every challenge together. She was by his side through every moment, good or bad, no matter the situation.
Jonny loved contact sports, fitness, gaming and weaponry. He loved MMA. He would spend hours training. He also enjoyed watching UFC, he never missed a fight. Jonny would play online games with his brothers, friends and dad. He said it was a way to spend time with the people who lived too far away. He was a weapons enthusiast. He collected knives, swords, guns and various other weapons. He was fascinated with the history of weaponry. He could talk for hours about any type of weapon. Jonny was also an avid doomsday prepper. He was prepared to survive anything and be the last man standing no matter what. Jonny loved being an uncle to his nephew and nieces. His family was so important to him.
Jonny is survived by his mother and stepfather Lindsey and Albert Curiel, Father Jonathan Ortega, brothers Marqus (Brigitte) Ortega, Brayden Ortega, Sonny Ortega, Adrian Curiel, Avirum (Mahlea) Curiel, Aiden (Sissi) Curiel, Angel (Caitlyn) Curiel, sisters Morriah (Dylan) Hansen, Maliah Mariscal and Soniah Mariscal, nephew and nieces Ender, Aria and Anastacia. maternal grandparents Travis and Yvette Baxley, Anthony (Angie) Montolla Sr., paternal grandparents Joe Ray (Patty) Ortega, uncles Anthony Montolla Jr., and Jose Ortega, aunt Anissa Ortega, Godparents Leon and Juli Cons, and Maria Ortega, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Theresa Ortega, his uncles Lukeas Ortega, and Tyler Baxley, all of his great grandparents and many great aunts and uncles.
