“Family is Everything”

LaVerne Heath Cline, age 82, of Young, AZ, passed away comfortably with end-of-life hospice care following complications of surgery. She was the granddaughter of Elvis & Mary Clark, (Young, AZ homesteaders), daughter of Wanda Fern Clark Heath Cline, biological father Clyde Miller Heath, and adoptive father Francis A. Cline, Sr. She is pre-deceased by her grandparents, parents, brother Ronald Eugene Cline and brother Jerel Wyatt Cline. Her brother Francis Cline, Jr. (Laura Faye) and sister Lynnette Carter currently reside in Young, AZ. Her longtime friend and companion, Tom Redstrom, also lives in Young.

LaVerne graduated from Globe High School (Class of 61) and joined the Womens Army Corp. She married Paul B. Reynolds and had 2 daughters, Dana (1963) & Nacelle (1968). Avid gun enthusiasts and hunters, Paul & LaVerne moved the family to the Bitterroot Valley in the Rockies of western Montana in 1968. She successfully completed nursing school, graduating with her LPN and obtained federal employment with the Trapper Creek Job Corps until 1982. She was recognized as smart, hardworking, reliable and a quick learner with promotions every two years. There was a divorce, other marriages, deaths and adventures but LaVerne kept returning to her home state of Arizona. She moved back three times in the 1980s. She helped her brothers and cousin, by managing The Prospectors Club, a busy bar owned by their cement materials business in Cottonwood, AZ. In 1988, LaVerne returned to Young, AZ determined to stay and live in her hometown. The home her grandparents built in 1925 (future Braswells) on Hwy 288 was for sale, so she bought it! She built and operated The Bakery for a few years. LaVerne wasnt afraid of hard work and held many jobs in Young at the school, the post office, the library, and was even a flag person on the paving job on the 512 road north of Young.

LaVerne purchased another property in 2005 and spent many hours upgrading and maintaining her beautiful home and land, where she happily visited with family and friends and mowed her own lawn until she was 80 years old.

LaVerne is survived by daughter Dana Reynolds (Tucson, AZ), daughter Nacelle Reynolds (Kyle Scott Young, AZ), 4 grandchildren – Austin Paul Reynolds (Springfield, MO), Nicole Marie Scott (Young, AZ), Nacelle Rae Holden (Tucson, AZ) and Sarah Cline Scott (Young, AZ). There is also one great grandchild, Leif Alexander Reynolds, son of Austin. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation is being handled by Lamont Mortuary of Globe, AZ and a memorial tribute will be held at noon on graveside at the Young Public Cemetery on LaVernes 83rd birthday, Sunday, June 21, 2026 with food and story sharing afterwards at the Pleasant Valley Historical Society.
