Leon Lutrell Cooper, of Globe, AZ, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026.

Born on March 6, 1934, in Leesburg, Ohio, Leon lived a life marked by love, faith, family, and countless memories shared with those fortunate enough to know him. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor, generosity, strength, and love for family and the Lord.

Leon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved talking to people, watching his granddaughter play softball, training horses, feeding the birds, playing saxophone, and singing in the choir at the church he attended, Central Heights Baptist Church. He was a great organizer of many things, building and fixing things. There wasn't anything that he couldn't do. He was a Republican Precinct Committeeman for Claypool #2, Gila County, and Arizona State. He served in the Air Force and by trade was a tool and die maker. He was a dairy farmer and successfully owned several businesses throughout his life.

Leon is survived by his wife Penny, his children Kindra (Brian) Padgett, Michele England, Diana (Tom) Gerber, Michael (Linda) Cooper, his grandchildren Taylor, Lindsay, Melissa, Megan, Matt and Ben. He had many great grandchildren, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Janet Harlow.

A celebration of life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at Central Heights Baptist Church, 5773 Main St., Globe, AZ 85501.
