Born on March 9, 1956, in Manhattan, Kansas, Penni had an indomitable spirit that resonated throughout her life. From a young age, she exhibited a caring and nurturing nature that would become the hallmark of her personal and professional journey.

After graduating from Lakin High School in 1974, Penni answered the call of her country by enlisting in the Army as a Women’s Army Corps (WAC) member. Following her military career, she pursued her passion for nursing, graduating from George D. Wallace State Community College in Dothan, Alabama, in 1986.

Penni worked as a traveling nurse for several years, traversing the country in her quest to heal and care for those in need. In 1991, she settled down in Globe, Arizona, where she continued her nursing career at the Central Valley Regional Medical Center, dedicating her heart and skills to the community until her retirement in 2014. Even after retirement, Penni continued to serve, taking a position with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office until her final retirement in 2024. Her compassion and dedication to nursing were not just a career; they were a way of life that she embraced with joy and commitment.

Penni was known for her loving and caring personality, and she lived life loudly with a radiant smile that could brighten even the darkest days. She cherished time spent with family and friends, embracing every moment together with enthusiasm and warmth.

Penni is survived by her son, Matthew Padgett, and his wife, Alyxandra; her brother, Phillip Davis, and his wife, Rhonda; her sisters, Pamela Huelskamp and her husband, Casey, and Patti Dunlap and her partner, Jud Watt. She is also remembered lovingly by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
