Phillip M. Hobbs, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona passed away on May 27, 2026. He was born on August 25, 1951, in Jackson, Tennessee.
Phil was a dedicated Funeral Director and Embalmer for 57 years serving families in Memphis, TN, Wichita, KS, Colorado, Missouri, Globe, and San Carlos, Arizona. He was a very selfless, hardworking, and caring person when it came to providing for families during one of the most difficult times in their lives. He was committed to working for Lamont Mortuary in Globe for nearly 20 years as “The Substitute” and during this time, Phil built a great connection with the San Carlos Apache Tribe. Where he was committed to understanding and achieving the families wishes of their traditional burials. During this time of serving Tribal Members, he earned the nickname "Fry Bread".
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hobbs. Children; Phillip, Jr. (Christy) Hobbs & Lori (Darryll) Baker. Grandchildren; Taryn (Jorge)(Baker) Vasquez, Kara (Damien) Baker, and Branden (Constance) Troutman. Along with nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Corey Hobbs. Phil always put dedication and love within his job and family. Thank you for the memories you gave your family and loved ones. You will forever hold a place in our heart and soul, in this life and after. Your wounds are now healed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Lamont Mortuary Chapel - 328 S. Hill St. Globe, Arizona 85501.
