Raymond “Ray” Shank passed away at the age of 91 on March 18th, 2024, at his home in Globe, Arizona. Ray was born on May 15th, 1932, in Brownsville, Texas and was raised in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
He served in the Air Force from 1949-1951. As a young man, he married Jo Nell Ward in 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. Ray and Jo had three children, Lonnie, Randy, and Sherry. They moved to Kearney, Arizona, then later to Globe, Arizona in 1960 where they raised their three children, worked and retired.
Ray had a deep love of the outdoors and often took his family on hunting and fishing trips. He was a hardworking man who held a long career with APS and retired in 1987. He loved country music, fishing, hunting, photography, and painting. Ray was an avid tinker-smith, artist, and builder, and he enjoyed buying things just to take them apart to see how they worked, then put them back together better than they were originally.
He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed for his wonderful sense of humor and boisterous storytelling. Ray is preceded in death by his son Randy and is survived by his wife Jo, his children Lonnie and Sherry and Many grandchildren.
