Raymond Gaitan Reyes, a cherished member of the Miami, Arizona community, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on July 22, 1938, in Miami, Arizona and grew up on Loomis Ave " Turkey Shoot".
Raymond graduated from Miami High School and later went on to serve in the U.S. Army from October 11, 1961, until his discharge on October 4, 1963. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the mining industry. However, his true passion lay in his work for the Town of Miami. He began as a Reserve policeman before transitioning to a full-time police officer. His dedication and commitment to public safety led him to further diversify his role within the town, where he also worked as a firefighter and eventually became a supervisor in the Public Works Department.
Raymond is survived by his daughters: Lillian Phillips, Victoria Levario, Cathy Levario, Penny Mata, and daughter Mary Ann Garcia-Reyes and her husband Johnny Garcia, and son David Levario and his wife Anna Levario. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, including Robin Morris and her husband Paul Morris, Christopher Phillips and his wife Ashley Phillips, Jessica Phillips-Fox, Adam Phillips and his wife Kristan Phillips, Patricia Spurgeon and her husband Jason Spurgeon, Mathew Mata, Desiree Levario, Regina Rose Levario, Aaron Reyes, and Stephan Reyes. Additionally, he was a proud great-grandfather to Levi Morris, Bianca Morris, Cash Phillips, Olivia Phillips, Carmen Phillips, Stephanie Spurgeon, Alicia Spurgeon, Jaceyln Spurgeon, Kambria Mata, Kourtney Mata, and Andrew Aragon.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Reyes; his parents, Celso and Lupe Reyes; their son, Gilbert Levario; their daughter, Darlene Reyes; grandson, Henry Mata; and siblings, Gloria Leos, Didos Reyes, and Vera Reyes.
A Rosary will be held in his honor on February 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m., both taking place at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 844 Sullivan Street, Miami, Arizona, 85539.
