Richard Frank Marcy, born in Chicago, IL on April 21, 1945, to parents Pauline Marie Schwarz and Sigmund Frank Marcykiewicz Family name was shortened to Marcy before they moved from Arlington Heights, IL to Phoenix, AZ. They eventually settled in Mesa, AZ. The family owned and managed the Winter Garden Motel on Main Street in Mesa. Rick had an older sister Doris Louise (Marcy) Atkisson (deceased), and older brother Kenneth Michael Marcy. Rick attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church and grade school. Later, Mesa High School and then Phoenix College and A.S.U. simultaneously. His work took him to G.E., to Honeywell, to U-Haul and finally to General Motors Desert Proving Grounds (GMDPG). He enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling, hunting, competitive shooting and of course fishing, and excelled at all. In his down time, he raced competitively, building, modifying and driving his mixed fuel (which he mixed himself) drag racer. Winning many of the competitions. After a bad crash at the Proving Grounds left him with two years of rehab, unable to do his job any longer, he retired at 29 years. He enjoyed retirement, traveling and fishing. Just having celebrated his 80th birthday, he passed away at his home just after their 23rd anniversary to wife, Deborah. He is survived by his wife Deborah Marcy (Roosevelt, AZ), sons Scott Marcy (Mesa, AZ), Tom Marcy (Cape Coral, FL), and daughter Denise (Marcy) Wirth (Queen Creek, AZ), and brother Ken Marcy (Downey, CA), Six Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Five cousins that turned 80 the same year as Rick. Rest in peace Ricochet. |
