SAN CARLOS, ARIZONA

It is with deep sorrow that we the family of Sandra Rambler announce her peaceful passing in Mesa, AZ on August 20th, 2025. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Sandra Sue Rambler was born in 1956 on the 5th day of May in Bylas, AZ. Her parents were Audrey Jordan and Jerry Rambler Sr. Sandra served in several positions and was employed with the San Carlos Apache Tribe for over 46 years. She was known for her contributions to local news, including writing and photography. She is most notably known for being tribal secretary and having been involved with over 7 different tribal administrations. Sandra is described as being kind, generous, and very knowledgeable. She was a historian, author, mother, grandmother, sister, traditional god mother, activist for Indigenous Peoples Rights and Environmentalist. She was known for being active in water conservation and land protections such as “Save Oak Flat” movement. She was passionate about preservation of Apache language and culture. She will be remembered for her heart of gold, deep connection to Mother Earth, and her dedication to the Great San Carlos Apache Tribe. Sandra is survived by her children. Tanayia, Lola, Shera, Culbert, Terra, Kristi, and her baby girl Desirae. Numerous cousin sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family members.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, daughter Ranayia Kitcheyan, brothers, aunts, uncles, and grandmother Ada Rope Jordan. Her service will be held on Tuesday the 26 at 12:00-3:00 pm at the Mitchell Hoffman Administration Building in San Carlos, AZ. Then a full service over night awake at Chairman Terry Rambler’s residence in Navajo Point in Bylas, AZ. The funeral will begin at 10:00 am at the Ernest Stanley Hall also in Bylas and burial at the Navajo Point Cemetery. Lamont Funeral services, and Mormon Church of Fort Thomas is officiating.
