Veronica Ferreira, born on January 16, 1951, in San Carlos, Arizona to Hampton Dewey and Zuella Ward, passed away peacefully at Northwest Medical Center Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, on April 16, 2026. Throughout her life, Veronica exemplified a spirit of resilience and generosity that touched many within her community and beyond.
Veronica’s educational journey began at Peridot Lutheran Church in Peridot, Arizona, followed by Stewart Indian School. She furthered her studies at Haskell Indian University and completed her academic pursuits at Lamson Business College in Tucson, Arizona. This solid foundation served her well as she navigated through numerous jobs during her lifetime, earning respect and admiration for her dedication and adaptability.
A woman with a profound love for the outdoors, Veronica cherished the simple joys of life, including road trips and the precious moments spent with her grandchildren. Her big heart and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of her character. She was also a devoted member of the San Carlos Miracle Church, faithfully participating in services both on and off the reservation, and sharing many memorable trips with her church friends.
Veronica is survived by her cherished family: her sister, Frenda Wright; her son, David Perreira Jr.; and her daughters, Michelle Ferreira, Destiny Angle Star Ferreira, and Delina Keoke. She was a proud grandmother to three grandsons—Roderick Ferreira, Brandon Stevens III, and Noel Ferreira—and two granddaughters, Roxanna Truax and Camry Ferreira. Her family, alongside her many church friends who journeyed with her during countless church excursions, held a special place in her heart.
